What subjects do you teach?

PE

What different age groups have you taught?

Year 7-Year 13

How long have you been teaching?

11 years

Why did you become a teacher? Who influenced you when you were a student?

I was inspired by a PE teacher I had when I was in Year 7. His name was Graeme Aalders and he showed me I could turn my love of sport into a profession. He later became a mentor of mine and is currently a successful head in the UK.

What is your favourite part about teaching?

Witnessing students’ success and seeing students overcome adversity through hard work and dedication.

What is your best advice for a teacher starting his/her career?

Above anything else you have to learn how to inspire students, simply having good subject knowledge does not make a good teacher. You can be whoever you want to be in the classroom, my advice is to be memorable.

What and where else have you taught?

I was previously Director of Sport at The Windsor Boys’ School. I once attended the school as a student and it molded me into the person I am today.

Besides teaching what have you done for work?

Growing up I was Sports Coach as a Leisure Centre working holiday camps.

What are your hobbies? What else do you do for fun?

Anything involving sport, mostly watching it these days, however I also compete in triathlons and play golf for my enjoyment.

If you could be anything else, what career would you pursue?

An app designer, I wish mobile phone apps were available when I was younger as I think I have hundreds of great ideas.

What is your biggest achievement?

I am currently working towards it but I haven’t achieved it yet.
