Mrs Lynsey Scholes is our careers advisor. She gives students guidance and support when they are researching their choices for future careers. There is also a wealth of experience within the staff themselves and students are encouraged to talk to as many teachers as possible about possible future careers.
Guest speakers from different careers and universities from across the world attend the college to speak to students about making positive choices for their future. Parents and students will be notified when these are happening. Although it is normally on a Sunday or a Thursday during assembly time.
When students are going through their option choices in Year 9, Year 11 and Year 13, Form Tutors play an essential role in guiding choices. There are also specific parents’ evenings at each of these key points to help our parents understand the full range of choices and courses available to our students.
Year 10 students undertake Work Experience placements that they have organized themselves in areas that they think may interest them We also actively encourage Key Stage 5 students to do the same for an area in which they are interested and make allowances within curriculum time for them to do this as it supports university applications.
